Background

Seven women were driving home in two cars from a bridge game near Council Bluffs, Iowa. In the first car six witnesses, including Marilyn Anderson, saw a cluster of lights hovering 200–300 feet above a bluff on Pioneer Trail; when they stopped to look, the lights sped away to the southwest. The seventh woman, driving behind them, did not see the lights; on Longview Drive her car stalled and the radio and lights went out, and after restarting it stalled again a quarter-mile on. A bright orange light appeared in a cornfield about 900 feet away, so intense it hurt her eyes; she locked herself in and passed out, and when she woke her car was turned sideways across the road. She could still see the orange light from her kitchen window and had blotches and redness on her skin that faded by 4:20 a.m. Eberhart cites the Omaha World-Herald of 13 February 1980 and an IUR item headed "Possible Abduction in Iowa" (1980). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
