Assumption, Illinois: Two orange domed discs hover over trees, one beams at the ground
On June 21, 1980, at 1:30 a.m., Janet McLeod saw two large orange domed discs circle low west of her home in Assumption, Illinois, and hover at treetop level; one turned on its side and shone a beam toward the ground for five minutes before both faded out.
Background
At 1:30 a.m. Janet McLeod noticed two large, orange, domed discs circling low about four blocks west of her home in Assumption, Illinois. They stopped and hovered at treetop level. The upper one gradually faded out from top to bottom. The lower one turned on its side and shone a beam toward the ground for 5 minutes, then returned to the horizontal and faded out in the same way. When she stepped outside 5 minutes later, it was dead quiet, and the natural sounds resumed only after 2 minutes. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
