Lima, Ohio: Security guard knocked back by light beam from hovering silvery object
At 1:15 a.m. on August 17, 1980, security guard Phil Battle at the Teledyne-Ohio Steel plant in Lima, Ohio, watched a round, silvery object hover about 270 feet away until a yellow light beam knocked him back against his truck and injured him.
Background
At 1:15 a.m. on August 17, 1980, security guard Phil Battle was driving his truck in the parking lot of the Teledyne-Ohio Steel plant in Lima, Ohio, when he saw an unusual bright light in the sky. He stepped out and watched a round, silvery form about 270 feet away, with little holes on its surface, a flashing yellow light and white floodlights all around it, hovering for about 5 minutes and moving back and forth; his CB radio did not work when he tried to alert others. Suddenly a yellow light shot out at him, knocking him back against his truck, scarring his knee, hurting his back and kidneys and reddening his left eye, and the object took off. Battle and other guards then saw a light about 1,200 feet to the north, slightly larger than the moon, which drifted westward after 15–20 seconds. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
