Background

At 8:05 a.m. Larry Garrett was working on his car in Easley, South Carolina, when he heard a sound like a swarm of bees. Looking north, he saw a large metallic object with black, square windows, which he estimated at 80–100 feet in size. It hovered above a hill and then drifted off to the north behind some trees. The Easley Progress reported the sighting on 17 September 1980, followed by IUR/Frontiers of Science and the APRO Bulletin. The account follows the entry in George M.
