Background

On 30 September 1980, UFO researcher William Moore met for the first time with Air Force Office of Special Investigations officer Richard Doty, whom Moore referred to as "Sparrow." Doty acted as the middleman for an Air Force colonel, later called "Falcon" by Moore, whom Moore had first contacted on 5 September 1980. According to Eberhart, the colonel's identity has not been established, though it may possibly have been Doty's superior officer, Col. John Barry Hennessey. Doty claimed that Stanton T. Friedman and Brad Sparks knew him personally and would vouch for him, which was untrue. The meeting is described by Brad Sparks and Barry Greenwood in their 2007 MUFON symposium paper on the Pratt tapes and the origins of MJ-12. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
