McLain, Mississippi: Ball of light beside car, radio, headlights and heater fail
At 8:30 p.m. on 3 December 1980, Robert and Janice Lowrey, driving on State Highway 57 south of McLain, Mississippi, saw a blue-white ball of light come close to their car as its radio, headlights and heater failed.
Background
At 8:30 p.m., on State Highway 57 about 10 miles south of McLain, Mississippi, Robert and Janice Lowrey (or Lawrey) saw a luminous, blue-white ball of light to the east. When the light briefly came over the right side of the hood, the car's FM radio quit, its headlights dimmed and its heater stopped working; the seat belt alarm also sounded. They estimated the light at about a foot in diameter and only 3 feet away. The light simply vanished. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
