Reserve, New Mexico: Huge orange ball maneuvers over highway, jet chases it out of sight
At 7:30 p.m. on 8 December 1981, Alma Hobbs and her two children, driving on State Highway 12 near Reserve, New Mexico, saw an enormous orange-ball-shaped object; at a restaurant, Dan Luscomb and Rosie Tafoya also saw it turn 90° near Luna Mountain as a jet chased it out of sight.
Background
At 7:30 p.m., Alma Hobbs was driving with her two children on State Highway 12 three miles southwest of Reserve, New Mexico. An enormous object shaped like an orange ball, estimated at 750 feet in length, made a number of turns in the sky. At a restaurant near the intersection of State 12 and US Highway 180, Dan Luscomb and Rosie Tafoya also saw the object. It executed a 90° turn near Luna Mountain as a jet aircraft chased it out of sight. The International UFO Reporter covered the case in March and May/June 1982.
