Background

On November 2, 1983, a Chinese Air Force bomber reportedly encountered an unknown object at about 40,000 feet. According to Dolan, the aircraft immediately lost its guidance systems, began to shake violently from side to side, and lost speed. The crew landed with great difficulty and then discovered that part of the tail was missing.

Investigation
