Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida: Oil workers see huge domed object stop in midair
At 9:00 p.m. on January 30, 1984, nine men on an oil platform in the Big Cypress National Preserve, about 40 miles west of Miami, saw a bright orange object descend fast and stop abruptly.
Background
Nine men working on an oil platform in the Big Cypress National Preserve saw a bright orange object descending at high speed about five miles away. At about 10,000 feet it came to an instant stop. As the orange glow faded they could see an object with a chrome dome and dozens of flashing lights on its underside, which all witnesses estimated to be at least 200 feet in diameter. It stayed stationary for 10 seconds, turned orange again and sped away to the east. Witnesses in Jensen Beach and the Miami area also saw the object. The account follows the entry in George M.
