Background

At 10:00 p.m. two police officers, Tom Jensen and Gary Myers, watched a large boomerang- or U-shaped object west of Norris, South Dakota, after a citizen had alerted them 10 minutes earlier. At its closest approach Myers saw it as lights arranged in an inverted L. As it passed, it blocked out the sky and stars. The Rapid City Journal and the Minneapolis Star and Tribune reported the sighting and the search that followed between March 8 and 10, 1984, and J. Allen Hynek discussed it in the International UFO Reporter in May/June 1984. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
