Background

At 9:30 p.m. investigators Dick Ruhl and Richie Petracca were on Interstate 84 in Dutchess County when they saw a brilliant white wedge-shaped object floating and turning in the sky, its lights changing to red and then showing red, green-blue and white. Through binoculars they noticed a second object; both glided slowly and maneuvered, appearing white as they approached and red as they turned away, and finally formed a boomerang shape. Suspecting the “Stormville pilots,” the two drove to the Stormville airport, where after a short wait in the snack bar lights were seen in the direction of the Green Haven Correctional Facility. They turned out to be six Cessna Skyhawks, apparently with mufflers on the engines, which landed one by one on a nearby runway, and Ruhl photographed the serial number N76106 of one plane. The findings appeared in the Poughkeepsie Journal and the APRO Bulletin, and Philip J. Imbrogno replied in the International UFO Reporter. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
