Background

At 7:28 p.m., physicist Bruce Maccabee was standing near the Light Street Pavilion in the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, Maryland, when he saw a black spot in the air to the southeast. Its most noticeable characteristic was its extreme blackness. It moved slowly north at a steady rate for 7 minutes until it disappeared. Maccabee ruled out a bird, a kite, an aircraft and a balloon, and described the observation in the International UFO Reporter in 1985. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
