Background

GEPAN was renamed Service d'Étude des Phénomènes de Rentrées Atmosphériques (SEPRA). The Scientific Council remained closed, and no further technical reports were produced. Jean-Jacques Velasco was still tasked with studying UFO reports, but not with analyzing them. Gildas Bourdais describes the change in the International UFO Reporter. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
