Area 51 bus routes go public

In the wake of the Lazar reporting, routes and access roads to Area 51, a site not even officially acknowledged at the time, became public. Tourists followed to the 'Extraterrestrial Highway', along with encounters with military guards, and in 2013 the US government officially confirmed Area 51.

Background

As part of the Lazar reporting, bus routes and access roads to Area 51 become public - previously not even officially acknowledged. Tourists begin flocking to the 'Extraterrestrial Highway,' encounters with the 'Camo Dudes' (military guards) ensue, and eventually Area 51 is officially confirmed by the U.S. government in 2013. Lazar's claims thus had a real political effect, independent of their truth value.
