Background
In 1990, the USSR Commission on Anomalous Phenomena was disbanded. The majority of its archive was lost after an accident at the storage facility. The entry relies on Mikhail Gershtein's 2024 overview of UFO research in the former Soviet Union. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
