Victorville, California: United 747 crew sees wingless supersonic craft pass beneath them
At 1:45 p.m. on 5 August 1992 the pilots of United Airlines Flight 934, at 23,000 feet some 50 miles northeast of George AFB near Victorville, California, saw a wingless craft resembling an SR-71 forward fuselage pass 500β1,000 feet beneath them at supersonic speed.
Background
The pilots of United Airlines Flight 934 were flying at 23,000 feet about 50 miles northeast of George AFB (now Southern California Logistics Airport), Victorville, California, when an unusual aircraft came directly toward them and passed underneath at an estimated 500β1,000 feet. It resembled the forward fuselage of a Lockheed SR-71, without wings but with a kind of tail. It was about 50 feet long, and its speed was supersonic. Eberhart cites Michael A.
