Background

A Boeing 737 was starting its landing approach at 7,900 feet at Guiyang Airport (now Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport) in Guizhou province, China, when its anti-collision system detected an object rushing toward the aircraft. About 6,000 feet away, the pilot saw the object change from a rhomboid to a circular shape and from yellow to red. The pilot landed safely, although the object remained on his radar screen for some time before disappearing to the south. The case is described by Timothy Good in Need to Know and in Patrick Gross's compilation of aircraft near misses. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
