Background

At 3:00 p.m. Sgt. John F. Duffy was serving as loadmaster and radio operator aboard a KC-130R Hercules cargo plane flying at an altitude of 24,000 feet north of the Horne Islands in the South Pacific. He noticed a white object on the left side of the aircraft. At first it seemed stationary, then it appeared to jump behind a nearby cloud, moving horizontally, and disappeared after only 2 seconds. Eberhart cites Richard F. Haines's analysis "South Pacific Sighting, 1997" in International UFO Reporter (Summer 1999). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
