United States: Second Roper survey for NIDS lowers estimate of potential abductees
In 1998 the Roper Organization conducted a second survey on abduction experiences for Robert Bigelow's National Institute for Discovery Science, using the indicators of its 1991 survey; the estimate of potential abductees fell from more than 3.7 million to 2.2 million.
Background
The Roper Organization conducted a second survey on abductions, using the same indicators as its 1991 survey. This one was commissioned by Robert Bigelow's National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS). The results indicated that the number of potential abductees had dropped from more than 3.7 million in 1991 to 2.2 million in 1998. Mark Rodeghier discussed what such surveys can show in the International UFO Reporter in 2000. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
