Peru's Air Force established the Office for Investigation of Anomalous Activity (OIFFA) in 2001, founded and first directed by Colonel Julio Chamorro. OIFFA was created within the Peruvian Air Force to officially investigate UFO reports, making Peru one of the few Latin American countries with a formal military UFO investigation body.
