Background

In the afternoon a Brazilian pilot flying an ATR 42-300 twin-turboprop airliner had a near miss with a luminous sphere near São Paulo–Congonhas Airport. The encounter lasted 14 minutes. Richard F. Haines analyzed the case in the International UFO Reporter in July 2009, with a commentary by Robert J. Durant in the same issue. The entry gives only the year and names neither the pilot nor the airline. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
