Background
At 4:15 p.m. on 13 March 2018, an F/A-18E Super Hornet from Strike Fighter Squadron 106 (VFA-106, the "Gladiators") tracks four separate unknown objects on its radar in the W-122 warning area off the coast of North Carolina. The objects all fly at approximately 0.1 Mach at altitudes between 16,000 and 22,000 feet and are stationary or near-stationary, not appearing to do anything in particular. The pilot visually identifies one at 20,000 feet that "appeared to be a quadcopter-type drone, 3β4 feet wide". The objects are spread across an area approximately 40 to 50 miles wide, the closest being 15 miles from the one boat the pilot notes seeing below. The report is among the Navy pilot reports published by Tyler Rogoway and Joseph Trevithick in The War Zone on 12 May 2020. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
