Arabian Gulf: Fighter crew tracks balloon-like UAP at 31,000 feet on radar and FLIR
In 2020, on a redacted date over the Arabian Gulf, a U.S. military fighter crew obtained a weapons-quality radar track on an object that looked like a balloon travelling with the winds at about 31,000 feet and visually identified it in the targeting FLIR.
Background
The mission report is almost entirely redacted under exemption 1.4(a); only the UAP text on the last page is legible. It describes the object as looking like a balloon, 'similar to previously reported UAP' from another fighter wing, and states that the crew observed a weapons-quality track of a UAP travelling with the winds at 31,000 ft MSL, was able to designate the track as 'next to shoot' and visually identified the UAP in the targeting FLIR. Date, unit, platform, callsign and position are redacted; the Arabian Gulf location comes from the record title. The details are taken from the records released by the U.S. Department of War (record code DOW-UAP-D7) and do not represent an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
