Middle East: Air Force infrared sensor locks on growing contrast for 58 seconds
In 2020 an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform acquired a reticle lock on an area of contrast that grew in apparent size and distinctiveness over 58 seconds before leaving the frame; the Department of the Air Force submitted the footage to AARO without any description.
Background
According to the official description, the Department of the Air Force submitted a report consisting of 58 seconds of infrared video from a U.S. military platform in 2020; the reporter provided no oral or written description of the observation. The video description notes a reticle lock on an area of contrast at 00:00-00:03, a gradual increase in distinctiveness to 00:30, a zoom at 00:31, an increase in apparent size and distinctiveness to 00:56, and the contrast exiting the frame at the bottom right at 00:57-00:58. AARO comments that the apparent increase in size is likely at least partially attributable to the U.S. platform closing the distance to the source of the detection. Platform, sensor, date and location are not disclosed; the record title says Middle East while the WAR.gov index lists the Southern United States. AARO lists the report as unresolved. The details are taken from the records released by the U.S. Department of War (record code DOW-UAP-PR45) and do not represent an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
