Syria: USAF ISR aircraft off the coast follows UAP north-northeast at 01:17 UTC
On 30 May 2022 at 01:17 UTC a U.S. Air Force ISR aircraft flying at FL240 off the Syrian coast observed one small UAP first seen over northwestern Syria flying north to north-east, followed it as long as possible, and the screener could not identify it.
Background
The mission report (originally SECRET//REL TO USA, FVEY; declassified on 8 October 2025) was filed by the 50th Attack Squadron under U.S. European Command for a single ISR aircraft that took off from Sigonella, Sicily, at 13:55 UTC on 29 May 2022 and collected imagery on Syrian naval sites, the Russian base at Latakia and Lebanese targets in the eastern Mediterranean. Earlier in the sortie, at 21:47 UTC, the aircraft was reacted to by one to three aircraft including a possible Russian Su-30 that passed about five nautical miles away and flew under its orbit for two minutes. The UAP section records initial contact at 01:17 UTC on 30 May 2022, the friendly aircraft at FL240 and 142 knots in grid square 36S XD off the coast, one UAP sighted, 'No' for UAP signatures, and a first-seen location in grid square 37S BV over northwestern Syria. The narrative calls it 'one possible small UAP' that flew north to north-east and was followed as long as possible; the screener could not get a positive ID. Aircraft type, callsign, tail number and exact coordinates are redacted. The details are taken from the records released by the U.S. Department of War (record code DOW-UAP-D14) and do not represent an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
