Syria: USAF aircrew records repeated glares of unknown origin on full-motion video feed
On 20 October 2024 between 15:59 and 16:44 UTC, a U.S. Air Force ISR aircraft of the 12th Special Operations Squadron operating over eastern Syria at 20,088 feet recorded repeated glares and a misshapen ball of white light of unknown origin on its full-motion video feed.
Background
The mission report (originator 12 SOS, launched from Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (OJMS), Jordan, at 08:23Z on 20 October 2024, aircraft type redacted) records a UAP incident with initial contact at 15:59Z at MGRS 37SFU44 (further digits redacted), friendly aircraft altitude 20,088 feet, primary sensor FMV. From 15:59Z to 16:44Z the crew observed multiple glares or light from unknown origin at different angles and directions: at 15:59Z, 16:02Z and 16:44Z one light or glare crossed directly on the FMV camera, and at 16:09Z and 16:20Z a light/glare halo effect appeared at the top of the FMV feed. The UAP is described as a misshapen and uneven ball of white light, physical state 'plasma', signature 'light', propulsion unknown, not under intelligent control and without advanced capabilities; the aircrew considered it benign with no mission impact or change. The report (event serial 201559ZOCT2024) was declassified on 24 October 2025. The details are taken from the records released by the U.S. Department of War (record code DOW-UAP-D32) and do not represent an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
