Buzz Aldrin

Buzz Aldrin (born 1930) is an American former astronaut, engineer, and fighter pilot. As Apollo 11 lunar module pilot, he became the second person to walk on the Moon in 1969 after Neil Armstrong. For the astronaut/UAP story, Aldrin matters because an Apollo 11 observation was often amplified as a UFO story: Aldrin described a light seen en route to the Moon as technically “unidentified” at the time, but later emphasized that he had not seen an alien and that a separated Apollo hardware panel was a plausible explanation. He is therefore a key card for careful language: unidentified at the moment of observation does not automatically mean extraterrestrial.
