Short overview
A U.S. Air Force Mission Report (MISREP) from Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, originated by the 65 SOS (1 SOW, AFSOC) under USCENTCOM, covering a sortie from 29 to 30 July 2025 during which the crew reported a UAP incident. Originally SECRET//NOFORN, it was declassified on 10 July 2026 by the USCENTCOM Chief of Staff and accompanies the infrared video DOW-UAP-PR135.
Why this is interesting
The UAP section of the form records first contact at 20:22:32 Zulu on 29 July 2025 and describes “6X SMALL SPHERICAL OBJECTS GROUPED TOGETHER” that seemed agile, frequently changed direction and were able to change direction quickly and simultaneously. All kinematic values are marked as estimated: altitude FL220, velocity 480 mph (typed “48OMPH”), trajectory southeast, while the reporting aircraft flew northwest at 120 knots indicated airspeed. The physical state is entered as solid; propulsion, intelligent control and radio-frequency data as unknown; and the report states no response to the observer, no effects on persons or equipment, no sensor interrogation and no recovered material. Much remains redacted under (b)(1)(B) and (b)(6): aircraft type, callsign and tail number, all locations and coordinates, the sensors, the UAP signatures, the observer’s own assessment and nearly the whole free-text event description, which breaks off after a few words.
Selected passages
- “UAP Description (e.g., size, shape, color, markings, recognizable features): 6X SMALL SPHERICAL OBJECTS GROUPED TOGETHER”
- “UAP Anomalous Characteristics/ Behaviors: ABLE TO CHANGE DIRECTIONS QUICKLY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY”
- “UAP Maneuverability Observations: SEEMED TO BE AGILE, FREQUENTLY CHNAGING DIRECTION”
Background
This document is a Mission Report (MISREP), a standardized reporting form the U.S. military uses to record the circumstances surrounding its operations. U.S. military services often use MISREPs to report unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO). The GENTEXT, or “general text” section of these reports often contains important qualitative, contextual information, distinguishing it from the more quantitative, or numerical, data found elsewhere in the report. This mission report accompanies video footage derived from an infrared system aboard a U.S. military platform in 2025 (DOW-UAP-PR135). A U.S. military operator reported observing UAP, describing it as consisting of “six small spherical objects grouped together, and characterized their behavior as “seem[ingle] agile,” and “frequently changing direction.” The reporter estimated the speed of the UAP to have been 480 miles per hour. All descriptive and estimative language contained in this report reflects the reporter’s subjective interpretation at the time of the event. Such characterizations should not be interpreted as a conclusive indication of the presence or absence of any intrinsic object features or performance characteristics.
