Short overview
Monthly progress report from Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), the AAWSAP contractor, to the Defense Intelligence Agency for November 1–30, 2009. It contains selected MUFON field investigations, a status update on BAASS’s investigations at a Utah ranch and its surroundings, and a preliminary report on a “blue orb” case.
Why this is interesting
After an appraisal of MUFON’s performance, BAASS cut its monthly payment by $10,000; the MUFON reports that follow cover cases such as a landing report in Versailles, Missouri, a car that reportedly stalled under a large lit object near Port Jervis, New York, and a light display seen across several central Texas towns. For the Utah ranch, which the report also calls Skinwalker Ranch, it reproduces security officers’ patrol logs from the round-the-clock surveillance begun on August 3, 2009, notes on interviews with residents and Ute tribal members in the Uintah Basin, and test designs: seed-germination comparisons between the ranch and Las Vegas, and locked briefcases with puzzles and Fibonacci tile boxes meant to rule out fraud by officers, trespassers or animals. The preliminary blue orb report describes a 2007 incident in Northern California in which, according to the woman affected, an orb passed through her body, and examines whether it caused her later health problems. In its conclusion BAASS states that projects including Northern Tier were on hold because it lacked the need to know for classified material, and that it had started a separate Capella database for events on and around the Utah ranch.
Selected passages
- “numerous new contacts were made which resulted in 5 additional witnesses to either an unidentified flying object, a bright blue orb and/or a large dog like creature which stood and ran on its hind legs.”
- “However, all of these anecdotal reports suffer from the obvious criticisms that they can be easily explained by (a) fraud perpetrated by the officers, (b) trespassers, (c) animals etc.”
- “The main question in this case is whether or not the blue orb incident is the cause all of this sickness.”
Background
This document is an administrative, programmatic, or contractor-produced record related to the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP), a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)-administered program active from 2008 to 2012. AAWSAP’s official scope of work identified 12 technical research areas relating to potential aerospace threats over a time horizon of more than 40 years. As part of the broader program record, the file documents how AAWSAP was scoped, organized, tasked, funded, executed, or described at a particular point in time. This November 2009 Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS) progress report summarizes contractor activities for the period November 1–30, 2009. The report focuses on AAWSAP investigative activity based on information received via the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), progress on investigations centering on a ranch in Utah, and a preliminary report on a “blue orb” incident. It also records BAASS’s continued emphasis on field investigation, case database expansion, and focused inquiry into events at the Utah ranch and surrounding area, including creation of a separate database for those incidents.
