Ibiúna, Brazil: Justice of the peace sees humming object land in brush, air force probes
At 2:30 p.m. on June 26, 1969, justice of the peace Sr. Benedito saw a humming object drop into the brush about 4 miles northwest of Ibiúna, São Paulo, then rise and fly off; the Brazilian Air Force investigated.
Background
At 2:30 p.m. Sr. Benedito, a justice of the peace, was walking along a trail about 4 miles northwest of Ibiúna, São Paulo, Brazil, when he heard a humming noise like a swarm of bees and saw an odd object rocking from side to side that suddenly dropped out of sight into the brush. Thinking it was an accident, he approached to within 20 feet and saw the landed object, which then rose, hovered a moment and left in a gentle climb, humming again; he felt a blast of air as it moved away. The Brazilian Air Force investigated the landing, and UFO investigator Hans Bemelmans found scorched grass in the thickly tangled brush. Bemelmans reported the case in Flying Saucer Review (January/February 1970). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
