AATIP Was Not the Funded AAWSAP Contract
The common claim that DIA ended a funded AATIP program in 2012 conflates AATIP with AAWSAP. Lacatski says AAWSAP funding was unavailable for FY11; AATIP was not a funded program.
Background
This entry is retained as a correction note rather than a termination of a funded AATIP program. In Lacatski's account, AAWSAP was the official funded program and the contract had wound down by December 2010, with the last DIRD published January 11, 2011. FY11 congressional funding was unavailable. FY12 efforts failed because of transfer and Special Access Program issues, not because a funded AATIP line simply ended.
AATIP was later used as a label for a small unofficial DoD effort around military UAP encounters. Claims about that later effort should be kept separate from the $22 million AAWSAP/BAASS contract.
