North Atlantic: Pilot on Boston–Dublin flight sees cycling white lights toward Gander

In October 2023 a pilot (a former military reservist) flying from Boston to Dublin at 37,000 feet saw one to four white lights to the northeast toward Gander that brightened and faded in cycles of 10 seconds to one minute. Background

According to an FBI FD-302 interview record from March 2024, the witness, a pilot and former military reservist, first observed the lights in October 2023 while flying from Boston, Massachusetts, to Dublin, Ireland. At 37,000 feet he saw white lights to the northeast toward Gander, Canada, which he judged to be at about 50,000 feet or higher. Between one and four lights were visible at a time; they started dim, brightened and faded in cycles of 10 seconds to one minute, some stationary and others moving in straight lines and sometimes changing direction, not in a coordinated fashion. He stated they resembled aircraft landing lights but ruled out Starlink, satellites and meteors, and said many pilots had been discussing such lights, typically seen between midnight and 3 a.m. He subsequently saw them about ten times for 45 minutes to two hours, in all directions except south, estimated 200 to 500 miles away and never below the horizon. The witness's name and other identifying details are redacted. The details are taken from the records released by the U.S. Department of War (record code FBI-UAP-D024) and do not represent an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
