Short overview

An FBI FD-302 interview record from March 2024 with a former U.S. military pilot, covering sightings in 2023 and 2024 and one recalled from Afghanistan in 2002.

Why this is interesting

The interviewee described lights repeatedly seen by pilots between midnight and 3 a.m. starting in October 2023, including one observation on a Boston–Dublin flight at 37,000 feet, with the lights judged to be higher still. His own reasoning is part of the record: the lights resembled aircraft landing lights, and he explains why he did not think that was the explanation. The FBI digital rendering FBI-UAP-D025 was drawn from this account.

Selected passages

  • “The lights were white in color, would start out as dim, and get brighter before they eventually faded out”

Background

This document is an FBI FD-302, a form the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) uses to record interviews. This FD-302 records a March 2024 interview with a former U.S. military pilot, in which the interviewee describes several incidents potentially involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) in 2023 and 2024. The interviewee also recalls a 2002 incident potentially involving UAP, while deployed as a military reservist in Afghanistan. An FBI digital rendering based upon the observer’s description accompanies this document, under the title FBI-UAP-D025.
