Western United States: Federal agents observe matte black triangular craft rise over a ridge line

According to an AARO memorandum for record, federal law enforcement agents at an observation post watched a matte black, triangular craft with an estimated wingspan of 13 to 15 feet rise vertically over a ridge line at dusk, hover for about 20 seconds and then bank and descend into a canyon without any sound. The agents’ own statement in a paired FBI FD-302 differs in duration, wingspan and the hover phase.

Background

At 20:23 local time, a third witness at a secondary observation post scanning westward with long-range thermal equipment called out an object over the ridge line, and two agents moved to the west side of their post and tracked it with binoculars, a handheld thermal monocular and the unaided eye. According to the AARO memorandum, the nonreflective craft climbed vertically for about ten seconds to 200 to 300 feet above the ridge line, hovered for about twenty seconds and then, within two to three seconds, banked and descended into a canyon drainage at a speed the observers compared to a fighter jet; it showed a spatially uniform thermal signature without exhaust, made no detectable sound, and a ground survey the next morning found no wreckage, ground scarring or vegetation damage. The agents’ written statement in FBI form FD-302 (FBI-UAP-D043) describes a black triangle “most resembling a delta wing drone” with a wingspan of nine to fifteen feet that rose over the ridge line, flew toward the observers and descended to the southeast, with visual contact lost at about 1.5 miles (the memorandum bounds the range at 1.4 to 3.2 miles) and a total duration of about three seconds; it mentions no hover. The official description also refers to a secondary observation on the following evening, which does not appear in the memorandum’s text, where “secondary” refers only to the second observation post; date and location are redacted in both documents, and neither makes a finding on what the object was. The details are taken from records released by the U.S. Department of War in PURSUE Release 07 (record codes DOW-UAP-D176 and FBI-UAP-D043) and do not represent an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
