Harry Reid

Harry Reid (1939–2021) was an American politician from Nevada who served as U.S. senator and Senate Majority Leader. In UAP history, he is best known for helping secure Defense Department funding for work that became associated with AAWSAP and AATIP, together with senators Daniel Inouye and Ted Stevens.

Reid treated the subject as a national-security and scientific question rather than merely a fringe topic. His efforts connected congressional appropriations, the Defense Intelligence Agency, Robert Bigelow’s aerospace network, and later public reporting on the Pentagon’s UAP work. In doing so, he created one of the institutional bridges between earlier classified or semi-classified UAP research efforts and the public disclosure era after 2017.
